Beginner’s Guide to Electric Fencing Installation

If you’re looking to get an electric fence installed, then there are a number of things that you’re going to have to consider. Electric fence installation does take a bit of work, but with persistence and some patience, you’ll be able to put it together without a lot of problems. Here’s a quick beginner’s guide that you can utilize in order to install your electric fence.

  • Figure out how you want to lay out the fence setup. Where is it going to go? How are you going to put it together? Draw it out in some pattern or figure out another way to indicate exactly where everything is going to go. You will also want to mark where each of the fence posts are going to go as well so that you don’t have to worry about making errors.
  • Decide how many corners that you’re going to want to put in. The corners are going to be the strongest part of your fence. Because of that, you want to make sure that you know how many corners that you need and how strong they have to be before you start putting the whole thing together.
  • Get all of the fence posts and equipment for your fence. After you’ve set everything up, you will want to get all of the materials and the equipment that you’re going to need for setting up your fence. Write down all of the numbers that you need and make the appropriate orders that you want to make.
  • Set up the charger for the electric fence. The charger is one of the most important parts of your electric fence. The charger is what holds the charge. You usually have to plug it in (or you can end up using a solar powered one if you have the resources available to do so) and then it will push the power pulses through the entire fence. If you have a large fence, you may need to install several of these to ensure that you’ve got what you need.
  • Put in the posts and the wire for grounding. Without grounding, the electric fences are going to be a lot more dangerous than they would have been otherwise. The grounding wires and posts will help to reduce the amount of current so that it’s not dangerous, but just enough to cause that shock that will divert creatures away from the area you’re keeping safe.
  • Put the fence posts into the ground. Putting the fence posts into the ground takes hammers and a few other tools in order to get everything put together. You can dig small holes to make it easier for you to run the fence posts into the ground, or you can use other techniques to make it easier for you as well.
  • Run the wire and make sure that everything is ready to go. After all of your fence posts and your chargers have been put together, you’re going to have to run the wire through the entire fence area. Put the wires through those areas, make sure that they’re hooked up to the charger properly, and then you’ll be ready to start using the electric fence for its intended purpose.

So, as you can see, it’s not an incredibly difficult process to install your own electric fence. Whether you’ve done this sort of thing before or you’re doing it for the first time, you’ll be able to get started and work it out without a lot of problems. Try it for yourself and see how much time and cash that you can save in the process.
